Cat on stone wall
For the companion who makes Stone Mountain home.

Your dog may know every turn of your usual walk through the Village. Your cat may have spent years watching the neighborhood from the same sunny window. They have shared the everyday moments that make a life—and when their needs change, those familiar comforts still matter.

Pallium Animal Hospice brings comfort-focused palliative and hospice veterinary care to pets and families in Stone Mountain Village and the surrounding community. We care for senior and seriously ill cats and dogs at home, helping you understand what is changing, what might help and how to approach the days ahead.

Whether you are adjusting to a recent diagnosis or noticing that everyday life has become harder for your pet, you do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

When everyday routines need a little more support.

Perhaps the front steps have become difficult. Or maybe their sleep is unsettled or your cat no longer sunbathes in their favorite spot, spending more and more time hiding in the closet. Appetites may have dramatically shifted and you notice food bowls are being left untouched. You find yourself making  adjustments day-to-day or throughout the day and maybe they are help intermittently or maybe you are wondering whether these changes are enough.

Our care begins with getting to know your pet and the life you share together. During a home visit, we look at their comfort, movement, daily habits, and surroundings. We talk through your concerns for them and develop a plan that considers both your pet’s medical needs and what you can realistically manage at home. That may include managing pain and other symptoms, making everyday activities easier, reviewing medications, or identifying changes that deserve closer attention.

The goal is to make their medical care comprehensive, comfortable and daily life more manageable—not to hand you another overwhelming list of things to do.

There is a person behind every pet’s care.

You are the one noticing the changes, keeping track of medications, and wondering what tomorrow might bring. Your needs belong in the conversation, too. Alongside veterinary care, Pallium offers dedicated caregiver and pet-loss grief support. There is room to talk about exhaustion, uncertainty, family disagreements, and the sadness that can begin long before a goodbye.

Dr. Jennifer Ringenberg and Lindsay Pierce bring veterinary care and family support together, helping you consider difficult decisions without losing sight of the relationship at the heart of them. You do not have to wait until after a loss to ask for support.

Family Support Services through Pallium offer a variety of options to care for the human side of your pet's care team:

  • Caregiver stress management and support sessions for individuals and families

  • Grief and loss support sessions for individuals and families

  • Grief support groups, in-person and virtual options (**availability may vary**)

  • Educational workshops and seminars

  • Support programming for children and adolescents coping with pet loss and grief

You do not have to be a current Pallium patient to take advantage of our Family Support Services and support can begin before, during and after the loss of a pet. Contact us today to learn more about our services.

words from the mountain

"We had a truly wonderful experience working with Dr. Jen to ensure that our 17-year-old Labrador, Howard, was as comfortable as possible during what turned out to be his final months.

Dr. Jen’s initial home visit to assess Howard provided us with immediate, practical suggestions that helped alleviate some of his struggles. We made adjustments around our home based on her recommendations, all with the goal of keeping him safe, comfortable, and happy.

Her follow-up visits to check on Howard’s progress were incredibly helpful as we began to consider his overall quality of life. With Dr. Jen’s compassionate guidance and support, we were eventually able to make the very difficult decision that it was time to say goodbye.

We are so grateful for the kindness, compassion, and care Dr. Jen showed Howard—and us—during such an emotional time."
